The Graduate Diploma in Voice studies is the only one of its kind that offers spoken voice training in Australia. The course provides a deepening of knowledge and skills in the application of voice and speech techniques in the performing arts and to your own professional contexts. The major focus of the course is to broaden the understanding of voice pedagogy and skills through experiential teaching and learning.
You will gain an advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of the spoken voice and be able to apply these skills systematically and coherently into your existing discipline or professional area. During the program your knowledge is extended through research based practice and teaching, and through application of this knowledge to the understanding of the relationship between the actor’s voice and classical and contemporary texts. It also looks at working with the spoken voice in individual and group settings and how to develop problem-solving solutions with these individuals through the application of sound pedagogical approaches.
The program is delivered over one year through an intensive workshop series. As the development of voice skills is a physical training, to gain full benefit from the course it is also expected that participants will develop their own daily practice, which will be applied during the periods between the intensive workshops.
The Postgraduate Diploma of Voice Studies also provides a pathway to Masters by Coursework and higher degrees by research.
