Do you have a keen interest in the world of drawing? Looking to develop your own personal visual language? Join VCA's Visual Art Studio: Drawing Foundations, take your skills to the next level and publicly exhibit your artwork!

Located in the arts precinct at Southbank, this intensive part-time year-long course is designed to provide adults with an introduction to the practice and study of fine art.  The Visual Art Studio: Drawing Foundations program focuses on the multitude of possibilities that drawing can entail. Students are encouraged to build their own understanding of their personal visual language through exploring and experimenting with a wide range of materials and ideas related to the world of drawing. By thinking about drawing as a foundation to the development of other mediums and/or as a discipline in its own right, you will be able to build a body of artwork over the year.

Guided by a practicing artist and educator, you will harness your passion and your ability to work independently.  You will develop fundamental skills and knowledge to explore your own artwork at a level that suits your needs and you will further explore your own ideas, experience and relationship with contemporary art.

The program culminates in an end-of-year exhibition, where students have the opportunity to publicly exhibit the artwork they have created.  If you are looking to discover your hidden talent, learn new skills and take your drawing to the next level, then book now!

“I'd always been a bit afraid of portraiture but really loved trying something new and finally being taught how to do it.  It was also great to be able to use the facilities and new materials.”
