Tailored specifically for VCE students and those planning to audition for the VCA Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting or Theatre) or other tertiary drama courses.
Shakespeare's language is immediate, energetic and vital. Discover the Bard’s clues and develop specialist, technical understandings of how to unlock the meaning of the text to ensure that you perform your best in your upcoming auditions!
Guided by an industry professional, performing artist and practicing educator, Jenny Lovell, this workshop will help take the fear out of approaching a Shakespeare text and give you the edge on how best to prepare a dynamic Shakespearean audition piece.
Jenny Lovell is a senior teacher in the Theatre Short Courses faculty, highly regarded for her expertise with Shakespeare and improvisation, having worked extensively in the field of improvisation for over two decades; performing, directing and teaching nationally and internationally in improvisation festivals.
Lovell is a founding member of Impro Melbourne, now in its 21st year.
Lovell's acting credits include theatre performances for Bell Shakespeare Co, Malthouse Theatre, Red Stitch, Theatreworks, La Mama and the Globe Theatre, London in addition to producing and performing her own work: In the Parlour for Melbourne Comedy Festival and What the Dickens at the Butterfly Club.
Her film and TV credits include MDA, Prisoner, Blue Heelers, Picnic At Hanging Rock" and Gallipoli.
