Theatre Audition Preparation Workshop: Contemporary Monologues
Are you planning to audition for an Acting or Theatre course at the VCA or elsewhere? Need to have a contemporary monologue or two to showcase your acting skills? Then this is the workshop for you.
Delivered by a nationally acclaimed director, this weekend workshop will cover all elements of student auditions. It includes sessions on how to choose contemporary monologues and how to prepare them for the audition room. It will equip you to get the best out of the challenging and nerve-wracking audition process and assist you to perform to your potential.
The workshop is based in a clear, practical set of questions helping you to examine text, character, intention, and how to overcome obstacles. You will leave the weekend with a clear understanding of what is required and how to implement a sound process of preparation for all undergraduate theatre courses.
Marcel Dorney is a playwright, screenwriter, director, and dramaturg, with many professional credits as writer and/or director, including eleven with Melbourne-based company Elbow Room, which he co-founded in 2008. Marcel and Elbow Room have received multiple awards, including the Queensland Premier's Drama Award, and two Green Room Awards (Best Director & Best Writing). Marcel holds a Masters of Performance Creation (Directing) by Research from the Faculty of the VCA, University of Melbourne.
Please bring something to take notes on and clothes you can move easily in.
