Introduction

Adult Winter Intensive - Film and Television

Are you looking to kick start your career in Film and Television? Inspire your creative agenda? Connect to industry professionals? Join VCA's filmmaking short course, Adult Winter Intensive – Film & Television.

Located in state-of-the-art facilities at Southbank (Melbourne), this practical three-day filmmaking short course is designed for adults wishing to get a taste of what it takes to work in the film and television industry, including:

  • Screenwriting
  • Producing
  • Directing

The filmmaking short course will take place over three days.

Day One: Writing for the Screen
Explore the process of writing narrative drama for the screen and how stories for both film and television are created and developed.

 Day Two: Producing
Experience a comprehensive overview of the roles and responsibilities of the Film Producer, from project development (including low budget filmmaking) to production, post-production, marketing and distribution.

Day Three: Directing & Working with Actors
Learn approaches to working with actors & key crew members under instruction from an experienced director, and with the participation of professional actors.

The teaching team is led by experienced industry professional, Andrew Blogg, who has been involved in film and video production since completing the Foundations Program at the Victorian College of the Arts, School of Film and Television, in 2002 (the course he now convenes). Since completing his studies, Andrew has worked on numerous film and television productions, educational programs, music videos and promotional videos. In 2004, his film 'Chay', the story of Cambodian brothers coping with grief, was shown at the prestigious New York Short Film Festival. In 2010, Andrew partnered with colleague, Tim Purdie, and embarked on their first feature documentary entitled Camp 32 which has so far screened at the Cambodian International Film festival (2015) and at the Cambodia Town Film Festival (2016) in Long Beach California.
