Dr Andrew McAliece and Dr Richard Simmie Scholarship
This award is open to a Music Theatre student enrolled in second or third year BFA (Music Theatre) based on merit and financial need.
Applicants will be considered for both this Award and the Ron Freedman Memorial Award in the same application.
One scholarship per annum, presented in Semester 2, valued at $6000. The final scholarship will be awarded in 2019.
Applications are closed for 2018 and will reopen in July 2019. Select the 'Second or Third Year Music Theatre Scholarship' tab to be considered for both this Scholarship and the Ron Freedman Memorial Award. Applicants can expect to receive an outcome by the end of October.
You are strongly encouraged to also complete a separate for a Financial Need Application (link is included in the online application for this scholarship) as this will enable you to be considered for central funding that is offered by the wider University.
Criteria & eligibility
This award will be open to a music theatre student enrolled in second or third year BFA Music Theatre, based on merit and financial need.
All applications will be presented to the selection panel, convened by Head of School Margot Fenley. The Dean of Faculty Professor Barry Conyngham will approve the final recipient.
Applications will be assessed by the selection committee on the basis of:
- artistic merit, (70%) as demonstrated by entry requirements for the course (i.e. audition, folio presentation) and overall standard of participation within the program to date;
- financial need (30%) (ascertained via the application, requesting income and expenditure information), and
- likely success in completing the proposed course of study (addressed through questions in the application process).
Successful recipients of this scholarship enrolled in 2nd year remain eligible to apply in subsequent years.
Students awarded this grant, will be required to complete a letter of thanks for the donors of this scholarship.
