Study Painting at the VCA

Painting at the VCA is taught in an immersive, studio-based environment. Reflecting the diversity of contemporary art practice, the program provides you with support for the development of independent and conceptually innovative practice. Through the development of technical and conceptual painting methodologies you are able to develop a sound knowledge of traditional and contemporary painting skills, techniques and concepts.

Combined with the practice of critical analysis, you will be able to build the confident expression and development of your own visual ideas and observations; whilst also gaining awareness of the broader, historical, contemporary and theoretical context within which you will be working. By engaging in informed critical debate while developing independent modes of practice Painting at VCA facilitates the development of independent thinking and making very well suited for a career as a practicing professional artist.
