Music Theatre
Music Theatre at the VCA offers intensive training in the three principle areas of Music Theatre performance – singing, acting and dance – individually and in combination. With a strong focus on and connection to Melbourne’s thriving Music Theatre profession through daily studio-based training with working artists and master classes with international guest teachers, programs also nurture the contribution to contemporary Music Theatre through the development of new work.

Did you know?
In April 2011, VCA Music Theatre students staged a wholly student-made production, titled Dreamsong. The show takes a satirical look at a US-style evangelical mega-church in financial trouble after the GFC, which stages a second coming of Christ. Jesus turns out to be something of a rock star! With book and lyrics by Hugo Chiarella, score by Robert Tripolino and choreography by Sam Hooper, the students worked with Eddie Perfect and Music Theatre Co-ordinator Margot Fenley on dramaturgy, with direction by Michael Gurr.
